Line of Duty season 6: Is Jo Davidson working on undercover operation? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

series six revolves around the murder of journalist Gail Vella (played by Andi Osho) but around that is the question of whether or not DCI Jo Davidson (Kelly Macdonald) is corrupt, as AC-12 continues to investigate her true motives. So is she really working alongside the OCG or is she simply trying to protect her cover?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Line of Duty.

Is Jo Davidson working on an undercover operation like John Corbett?

Jo quickly came under fire following the arrest of Terry Boyle (Tommy Jessop) when they got a lead as to who could have killed Gail, delaying the arrest by stopping off at an armed robbery at a shop.

No one else noticed anything was wrong besides from Jo, making it seem like she knew there was going to be a robbery to take place which would give the true culprit time to escape and leave Terry in his place.

Her team also supposedly didn’t think it was important that some of Gail’s podcast recordings had been stolen from her work prior to the journalist’s death.

She was also seen in a car with known OCG member Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper).

Jo looked suspicious as she got into a car with Ryan who had been part of the group since he was a young boy and was now working as an officer, having wormed his way into the force.

In another scene, she drove up under a bridge beside another vehicle which then left the scene.

Underneath was a burner phone which she then collected, indicating that she really is in touch with the OCG.

But is it really what it looks like or is Jo secretly still working on behalf of the police?

So could Jo have been hired to become an undercover officer for Operation Pear Tree like John was?

There have been a couple of scenes now where Jo has expressed her frustrations while she was alone.

After collecting the burner phone, she started crying, screaming and lashing out at the wheel of her car.

In another scene, Jo was in her flat when she threw a glass of wine she had just poured against a wall.

Ryan might even be working for Jo to keep an eye on her, having been employed by a senior corrupt officer.

There is also the matter of the multiple locks on Jo’s door which indicates that she is afraid someone will try and hurt her.

Could she be undercover and scared for her life that someone will find out what she has really been doing all this time?

If she is part of Operation Pear Tree, then there is no doubt that she will know what happened to John and maybe this is a cautionary tale for her.

Line of Duty continues tonight, Sunday, April 11, at 9pm on BBC One.
