T.W.A. Terminal Reopens With Food by Jean-Georges Vongerichten and More

The swooping landmark Eero Saarinen building that was the T.W.A. terminal at Kennedy International Airport has been reborn as a hotel. Opening Wednesday, The Paris Cafe and Lisbon Lounge, both part of the original terminal, will feature food by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who will also manage the space.

At the Paris Cafe, there’s an all-day menu of dishes that are likely to have broad appeal. Among them are an egg sandwich, a broccoli and kale salad with a poached egg, pizzas, some pastas, as well as burgers, tacos, fish and chips, and even beef tenderloin. Several specialties, like the fried calamari, spring pea soup, crispy salmon sushi and black truffle pizza, are crowd-pleasers at a few of Mr. Vongerichten’s other restaurants. In the stunning space, stretches of glass overlook the runways, and there are curved white architectural accents and bright red and gold upholstery.

Also on the ground floor will be the Sunken Lounge, serving retro 1960s-style drinks complete with swizzle sticks, and a new Pool Bar and Observation Deck on the roof of the new hotel tower. They will be run by the Gerber Group. In addition, the former Departures Hall, where travelers once checked in for flights, is now an area for quick takeout items with some seating.
