Despite Riverdale showrunners teasing Jughead Jones’s death (played by Cole Spouse) multiple times, the latest peak into the future seemed pretty realistic as a bloodstained Betty stood shaking over his body.
The ninth episode titled Tangerine featured a flash forward to four weeks into the future.
Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) was seen standing in a dark wood as Jughead lay on the floor.
It has been no secret that Betty has been struggling with her darkness within.
During her FBI training, Betty realised she had a serial killer gene, the same one that prompted her father Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro) to become The Black Hood.
“Okay the whole thing of Betty maybe killing Jughead better be a dream or something, otherwise I’m done!” slammed a third user.
However, some fans are convinced Betty did kill Jughead, tweeting their own theory.
The fan speculates Betty’s motive for Killing Jughead was so she could be with Archie.
They tweeted: “When Betty fixes her ‘dark self’ it changes her love life to and she actually falls in love with Archie again and kills Jughead over it because she was always crazy. But i’m just joking… unless”
Other fans seemed to agree with this, as another tweeted: “If Betty really killed Jughead, us #Barchie shippers are shipping Archie with a killer.
Well… I’d ship killer Betty and Archie over bughead & varchie any day.” added a second.
“Archie is going to be the one to get rid of this darkness in her. Mark my words.” added a third.
Did Betty kill Jughead to be with Archie?
