Molly-Mae Hague has certainly caused some waves since she entered the Love Island villa last Thursday (June 6). From Hertfordshire, Molly describes her job as a social media influencer. Here’s what we know so far about what her job is and what she does.
Molly Mae Hague is the latest contestant to enter the Love Island villa tonight (Thursday, June 6) on ITV2.
At just 20 years old, she will be one of the youngest singletons in the show.
In her introduction video, she says she is a social media influencer but what does this mean?
A social influencer is someone who uses different social media platforms – predominantly Instagram – to promote different products.
Generally they have built up a certain group of followers who trust their advice in their chosen field.
Molly Mae Hague currently has 219,000 followers on Instagram where she posts mainly fashion and travel content.
Fashion influencers are often flown all over the world by brands and designers to help promote their products.
This typically emerges from partnerships with a number of brands which stipulate costs and what the posts will entail.
While influencers all charge different amounts for content like this, many are paid between £2,000 and £5,000 for posts, according to Vogue.
This is aside from the fact that generally they don’t pay for the clothes and holidays they are sent on.
Molly’s Instagram shows her promoting clothes for clothing companies like Luxe To Kill, Motel Rocks and Get Styled.
She also has a YouTube channel where she posts videos about fashion, including a number of what are called hauls.
These are when influencers receive a large amount of clothes from a brand and they try them on for their viewers.
Her latest video is a Boohoo Coachella inspired haul, which has just under 9,000 views.
In a hot tub date with Tommy Fury on her first night she explained it to him.
She said: “I do social media, so influencing and just Instagram.”
To which he said: ”Any cheeky pics on there?”
She continued: “Well yeah, I used to work in a gym before I did Instagram.”
The 20-year-old is currently coupled up with Tommy Fury but has also been talking to Anton and Danny.
Love Island continues on ITV2 tonight at 9pm
