‘Honorary Loose Man’ Joe Swash joined the ITV panel show earlier today to speak out on his heartbreaking loss and revealed the wish he was unable to carry out for his grandmother after she passed away. He joined Loose Women panellists Christine Lampard, Nadia Sawalha, Carol McGiffin and partner Stacey Solomon as he shared the tragic revelation.
Last month, the Celebrity Gogglebox star paid tribute to his grandmother on Instagram after he received the news that she had passed away.
The former EastEnders star posted a throwback picture of his nan holding his son baby Rex, who Joe shares with Stacey.
He wrote: “Good night Nanny Fran. Sleep well. I miss you so much already. I’m heartbroken.
“I wish I could have spent more time with you. I wish I could have seen you more before you left us.
“I wish I could have said goodbye. But I know you know how much we all love you and you’ll be watching down on us, looking after us forever more. Goodbye Nan. Love you.”
During his appearance on Loose Women, Christine asked Joe how he was coping after such a tragic loss.
He said: “That’s the difficulty with losing someone at the moment. We didn’t get to say goodbye
“The thought of my nan being on her own as well is really difficult and the funeral, not everyone could come to the funeral.”
He revealed: “I’m not really the best person because I don’t talk a lot myself, I hold a lot in.
“I could take a leaf out of that book and try and open up a little bit. I think it’s difficult sometimes for certain people.
“I’m so lucky, I’ve got Stacey, I’ve got a tight-knit family. I know if I need to talk about anything, they’re all there for me and I think, for me, that’s the most important thing.
“But yeah, I think I need to work on that myself – be a little bit more open and talk openly. Stacey will tell you the same as well.”
Stacey remarked: “You have got better since I met you definitely, at the very start of our relationship I remember thinking, ‘He’s a closed book.’
“I could sense something wasn’t right sometimes I just never knew what it was.”
Discussing how Joe has changed, Stacey added: “The way you deal with things emotionally has changed with the children.”
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm. Celebrity Gogglebox airs tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
