Richard, 63, went down a storm with viewers as he stood in for Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, 54, this summer. Hot off the heels from his stint, it seems the veteran television star could be a part of this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! line-up. The rumour mill is already going into overdrive on who will be entering the jungle, so could this be another name to add to the list as ITV bosses reveal they want to shake things up?
The former This Morning presenter already revealed earlier this year he wasn’t going to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing and did state he wouldn’t take part in I’m A Celebrity.
However, his remarks about Strictly has led some viewers to believe he may have another reality show in the pipeline, soon flocking to the bookmakers to place their odds.
Since Richard’s comments, the bookmakers have slashed the presenter’s odds on entering the jungle at 3/1 but it wouldn’t be the first time he’s appeared on the show in some format.
Back in 2017, the veteran television star was a guest on spin-off show Extra Camp where he took part in a Bushtucker Trial.
Following boxer Amir Khan, 32, failing to collect a number of keys in the Critter-cal Rescue Task when he grabbed a snake in one of the boxes, Richard took on the challenge.
The Good Morning Britain star completed the challenge with no qualms at all, proving he would be a worthy asset as a contestant on the main show.
Earlier this year, casting celebrity executive Micky Van Praagh revealed casting was underway at a BAFTA Masterclass for the show.
According to The Mirror, Micky said: “I think we know what works. I think of our show as a comedy and so I’m looking for people who are funny and high energy as we know those types of things always work.”
Love Island winner Amber Gill, 21, is also another name stapled to the show following her stint in the villa this summer.
Following her split from boyfriend Greg O’Shea, 24, who she won the ITV reality show with, Coral also have the model at 3/1 to take part this year.
Coronation Street fans could also see Tyrone Dobbs star Alan Halsall, 37, following in the footsteps of his on-screen partner, Jennie McAlpine, 35.
Taking to social media, the actor posted a picture of himself in the campmate getup, so could the Weatherfield favourite be swapping the cobbles for the jungle?
Reigning Strictly Come Dancing champion Stacey Dooley, 32, is also rumoured to be venturing into the jungle after her win on the dance floor.
Stacey is no novice when it comes to tackling unknown terrain and taking on edge-of-your set challenges, so she would be the perfect candidate for the this year’s cast.
Former footballer Ian Wright, 55, has been reported to be in talks with producers of the show to sign up for the hit reality series.
According to reports from The Sun, a source said: ““Ian would be a massive signing for ITV who’ve been keen to get him Down Under for a while.”
Viewers will have to keep an eye out to see the confirmed line-up when the show returns to screens this November if previous start dates are anything to go by.
