Coronation Street spoilers Alya Nazir exits as she’s killed in Geoff Metcalfe death plot? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Alya (played by Sair Khan) has been on a mission to free her grandmother Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) after the latter was imprisoned for attacking her abusive husband Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) earlier this year on . Upcoming scenes on the soap will see the storyline reach its final climax as the residents of Weatherfield put their support behind the wrongly accused prisoner on the day the courts making their verdict on the case. However, it seems Tim Metcalfe’s (Joe Duttine) father has one more act of villainy to act upon, but it could cost him both his life and that of his wife’s granddaughter.

The drama kicks off in a couple of weeks time when Yasmeen’s trial draws to a conclusion, with the barristers delivering their closing verdicts.

Viewers will have to wait and see whether the beloved character is freed or sentenced to time behind bars, but the decision will have huge repercussions back on the cobbles.

When Geoff and Alya come face-to-face at the Speed Daal restaurant, which they co-own together, it’s clear there is unfinished business between the pair.

As tensions rise, the father-of-one ends up attacking his wife’s granddaughter before taking drastic action to make a very dangerous point.

Heading back to Number Six, the menacing villain ends up pouring lighter fluid all around the property, but he is confronted by his young enemy once more.

Yasmeen’s granddaughter follows Geoff to the house and is utterly shocked to see what he is doing to her family home.

The villain then lights a flame and it’s not long before the fire is ripping through the house with no means of escape for the two characters.

As a result, they both end up on the roof of the property but there is yet more danger lurking nearby on the cobbles.

With the residents of Weatherfield gathered outside to try and stop Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) from destroying the street, a crane crash knocks out the power.

Taking to Twitter, viewers have been demanding Geoff get his comeuppance ever since it emerged the villain was controlling his wife.

With the anniversary storylines revealed, one viewer wrote: “Reading what’s going to happen in @itvcorrie in its birthday week sounds good between Alya and Geoff #Corrie.”

Another predicted: “So Yasmeen gets off, Geoff goes mad and Alya is there when he dies? #Corrie @itvcorrie.”

Whilst a third commented: “I love how Alya proper lays into Geoff when she sees him…he deserves it #corrie.”

ITV’s managing director of continuing drama John Whiston has defended the soap’s decision to portray the coercive control storyline.

“It wouldn’t be drama if what everybody on social media wanted to happen just happened,” the broadcasting chief said.

“Then we wouldn’t have any drama. People in real life don’t always behave as you want them to. The Geoff and Yasmeen story is a case in point.

“We had plenty of time to change the story. We could have said, ‘Social media hates this story. We can go away from it.’ But we stuck to our guns.”
